About Young Life

What is Young Life?

Mission Statement: Introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.

Young Life is a faith based organization, founded in 1941, with the intent to go to high school students with the love of Jesus. Even though much has changed since then, unchanged is the mission of going to students and introducing them to Jesus. Young Life exists to meet high school students right where they are, walking alongside them, and sharing the truth of God’s love for them.

Young Life is for ANY student. We know that this is a crucial time in the lives of adolescents; figuring out who they are, what lies ahead, and pursuing answers to some of life’s big questions. We know the importance of loving adults (SFYL) coming alongside students during this time, it can have a dramatic impact.

The 4 C’s - The main ways in which Young Life accomplishes its mission

Contact Work - Caring for kids

Because kids don’t care how much you know till they know how much you care, Young Life leaders show they care by going where kids are, meeting them as they are, believing in who they can be. This can look like going to grab coffee together, going to a football game, or getting together for some disc golf after school, or going to their choir concert. In any way, leaders work to build friendships with students by spending time with them, showing them that they truly care about them.

Club - Party with a purpose

This is our weekly gathering of students from across the city for our party with a purpose.

This is a time for students to just be themselves, participating in a variety of activities from singing to wacky and gross games. The night is a great time to build friendships, have fun together, and hear about the love that Jesus has for them.

Jim Rayburn, founder of Young Life, said we should never bore kids with the live giving Good News of Jesus - thus Mondays are never boring.

Campaigners - Time to question, learn, and grow

We invite students to get to know Jesus and follow Him for a lifetime. This is a weekly gathering of students that looks to deepen their faith through study, a safe place to ask questions, learn, and grow.

Camp- The best week of their life

Camping is another thing that Young Life does so well. This is a week of growing relationships and high amounts of fun. This tangible experience is all paired with the chance to hear the greatest story ever told.

We also have a yearly backpacking trip that allows students to get out into the physical demands of the mountains; while getting to know Jesus, themselves, and others even more deeply.
